Fransk-svensk samproduktion om en förtjusande häxa – spelad av Marina Vlady – som hänger i de vackra skogarna i Dalarna. Själva historien (skriven av fransmän) är naturligtvis befängd – ur svensk synpunkt. Men inte ur utländsk. Ute i världen trodde man vad som helst om den hemlighetsfulla Nordiska skogen. Den tyska publiken röstade till exempel fram Häxan till segrare vid 1956-års upplaga av filmfestivalen i Berlin. Men det är en mycket underhållande film, av olika orsaker.
